The faculty is headed by Dr. Alhaji Iddrisu Hussein Ibrahim. It is the first faculty established by the IUCG in year 2000 and was accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) to run bachelor degree in Religious Studies under an affiliation agreement with University of Ghana, Legon, for the award of bachelor degree.
In 2010, the faculty commenced an MPhil programme under an affiliation agreement with Al-Mustafa International University, Qom, Iran which is the sole sponsor of IUCG now. The staff strength currently is 8, of whom 4 are the faculty’s graduates who have returned to teach in the faculty after completing MPhil and PhD programmes.
The faculty aims at giving students quality education through knowledge based upon the true religious principles and values by inculcating in our students high sense of morality, honesty, tolerance, and trust in the Almighty God (Allah). The degree programmes offers by the faculty are:
Our graduates are being employed as teachers of religious instruction, journalists, preachers, civil servants and diplomats, and in the private-sector business firms as counsellors and mediators. Formal and informal reports on them from their places of work speak favourably of their performance and output.
The faculty also offers services to the Ghanaian community through regular training of Imams in the interpretation of Qur’anic verses and management of mosques, and paying regular visits to prisons for the purpose of comforting and counselling the inmates, especially the Muslims.
