ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The BSc. Nursing Programme at Islamic University College,Ghana is delivered in collaboration with the branch of Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) — a globally recognized medical institution with extensive experience in training healthcare professionals and operating multiple teaching hospitals and research centers.
As part of its internationalization strategy, IUMS has expanded into West Africa, including Ghana, to train highly skilled nurses and strengthen healthcare systems through global academic partnerships.
This programme combines international standards with local clinical relevance, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for both Ghanaian and global healthcare environments.

Admission Requirements for BSc Nursing
A. WASSCE Applicants
Applicants with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) must meet the following criteria:
1. Credit passes (A1–C6) in six subjects, including:
o Core subjects: English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science
o Three elective subjects: preferably in Science, General Arts, Home Economics, and Agric Science.
2. Minimum aggregate score: 18 for non-Science Student and 20 for Science Student
3. Additional requirement: Credit in Integrated Science is mandatory for enrolment.
4. Applicants meeting these requirements enter the programme at Level 100.
MSc. Critical care Nursing
Admission into the MSc Critical Care Nursing programme follows national regulatory standards set by the Ghana Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). GTEC postgraduate admission standards require a relevant bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, while the Ghana NMC requires professional registration and evidence of competence for advanced nursing training. Therefore, candidates will be admitted into the programme based on the following criteria:
- i. Applicants shall hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with at least second class lower division or an equivalent professional nursing degree from a GTEC-accredited and NMC-accredited tertiary institution.ii. Applicants shall possess current registration and a valid professional license with the Ghana Nursing and Midwifery Council at the time of admission.iii. Applicants shall present evidence of post-qualification clinical practice, with a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience. Preference shall be given to applicants with experience in acute care, emergency, or critical care settings.iv. Applicants shall submit official academic transcripts, professional certificates, and two academic or professional references as required by institutional regulations.v. Applicants whose first degree was not taught and examined in English shall provide evidence of English language proficiency in line with GTEC guidelines. This requirement does not apply to applicants who completed accredited nursing education in Ghana.vi. Applicants shall satisfy any additional institutional requirements interviews and being medically fit.
