Alhaji Dr. Mohammed Ameen Kasim holds B. A. Religious Studies (First Class Hons.) from the Islamic University College, Ghana, M.Phil and PhD in the Study of Religions from the University of Ghana, M.ED in Teaching English from the University of Education, Winneba, and currently pursuing his Professional Certification Programme (PCP) in Human Resource Management at the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management,
Ghana. Dr. Ameen’s journey of becoming a staff of the Islamic University started during his student days when he did his voluntary internship with the Administration in 2009. In recognition of his hard work during the internship, he was offered a part-time job as Library Assistant. He later became a Teaching Assistant (National Service Personnel) during the 2011/2012 Service Year. He has been a Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies since
September 2015, in addition to being the foundation Headmaster of the Lady Fatimah Girl’s Senior High School (an establishment of the IUCG). Until his appointment as Registrar of the IUCG in July 2023, he served as the Director of Human Resource Management and Development since November 2022. As an alumnus of IUCG, Dr. Ameen was elected as the General Secretary of the Alumni Association of the Islamic University College, Ghana from 2013 to 2015, and rose to become the President of the Association from 2016 to 2022. He also served as the Alumni Representative on the IUCG Council. Dr. Mohammed Ameen has participated in several international conferences and made scholarly presentations in same. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Leibniz- Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) of Berlin, Germany from November 5 to December 5, 2021. His recent publications include “The National Chief Imam of Ghana: Intervention, Collaboration and Contestation” in Abdoulaye Sounaye and André Chappatte (eds). Religiosity on University Campuses in Africa. (Berlin: LIT VERLAG, 2023): 165 – 190. His upcoming work explores the nexusbetween Muslim unity and the development of the Muslim Community in Ghana.
